Wisdom and Consequences
by Paul Faulkner
A TV program several years ago featured a young woman, named Melody, who was leafing through old medical school yearbooks trying to find her resemblance in the faces of the male students. She was trying to find her biological father, because her mother conceived her through artificial insemination. She went on to say, “I find it maddening that intelligent people fool themselves into thinking that my biological background would be inconsequential to me.” Crazy, isn’t it, the way we don’t think about the long-term effects of what we do.
This kind of wisdom comes from God, as the old inspired wiseman reminded us many years ago: Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will direct your paths. Don't be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the LORD and turn your back on evil. Then you will gain renewed health and vitality. (Proverbs 3:5-7 NLT, 1st Ed.)
